Dental Implants
are an excellent option for replacing one or more missing teeth as
an individual crown or a permanent bridge. The implant is a titanium
devices, root shaped to be embedded into the jaw bone.
To get an
implant fixed, we need to ensure that your jawbone is in good shape,
and you have healthy oral tissues. This helps in the bonding between
the jaw and the implant, hence giving you ever-lasting support.
Implants can be
used for single tooth as well as for fixed full denture. The
procedure of putting single tooth implant is usually done in two
stages. In first stage root part of implant is fixed, then it is
allowed to integrate with the bone over a period of four to six
months and then the crown part is fixed, but in certain cases it may
be done immediately depending upon the bone availability and number
of other factors.
In case of
fixed full denture, the denture is supported on four to six mini
implants in each jaw and then the denture is fixed over it at the
same time.
FAQ
Who can get Dental Implants?
Usually, if someone is healthy enough to undergo a routine oral
surgery or a dental extraction, they can be considered for a
candidate for a dental implant. Patients need to have healthy gums
and enough bone mass to hold the implant firm. They must also be
willing to maintain good oral hygiene and keep regular dental
visits. You would need to be evaluated on an individual basis if you
are a patient who is a heavy smoker, someone that suffers from
uncontrolled chronic diseases - like heart disease, or diabetes - or
have had radiation therapy to the head/neck area. If you are
considering implants, contact us for more info.
I have already the implant (screw) in my jawbone, but I cannot
afford the cost of the final abutment and crown.
Can I get done in Cabo?
Dr Arciga can make the second stage of the implant, meaning set the
abutment and the crown. However it is necessary to know the implant
brand and other specific information about so we find and obtain the
exact abutment according to the brand you have gotten implanted.
What is a mini implant?
Mini implants are designed to support full dentures secure and allow
you speak and eat with full confidence. A 6 mini implants set is
indicated for upper plates and 4 mini implants for a lower plate.
They are for immediate use.
