Composite fillings Hygiene
Root Canals
Composite Fillings.
The most convenient, practical and natural appearence material to fill a dental cavity is composite.
These materials have several advantages over the old silver amalgam material;
- Color accuracy
- Less dental structure in good condition to be drilled
Composites are bonded or attached to the dental cavity by adhesive techniques; after the dentist drills the cavity a "bonding" agent is extended to the internal surface of it and sucesive layers of composite in paste placed to fill and shape the tooth form. The dentist sets the material with high intensity light and finally trims and pollishes it to high gloss.
If the fillings (also called restorations) are the final step of a treatment plan in which the patient got his/her teeth bleached, the composite color choice is a "bleach" tone that will match to the new desired shade.

Root Canal treatment
(Endodontics)
By far, a toothache is the number one problem that brings patients to the dental office in a small city like Cabo. Usually caused by an infection in the dental pulp (the inner soft tissue in the tooth), which causes swelling and pain.
Dr. Jorge Arciga has skills and experience in root canal treatment as a basis for his dental practice.
Initially, the aim is to reduce pain, swelling and disconfort produced by the infection, by prescribing the necessary medication (antibiotics)to do so. In a second visit the canal treatment is performed, in a painless session, and the tooth restored.
Sometimes the root canal is performed the first time, if there is no infection present.
Hygiene
All of these are regular procedures we apply for your protection.
Medical Hygiene protocoles are compulsory by Mexican Health Bureau according w/ worlwide standards.
*"Autoclaving" is a sterilization procedure by exposing instruments and materials to temperature and steam pressure efective enough to kill bacteria and other infectious microorganisms.
** Disposable items such as dental needles are factory sterilized and sealed to be disposed after one single use. Other disposables like doctor's mask, gloves or suction pipes that cannot be sterilized are disposed of after each patient. New, clean disposables are used with each client.
All used sharp items, like scalpels and needles are stored in solid containers to prevent hazzard. Other articles like gauzes, cotton rolls, gloves, masks and biological debris are packed in controlled bags. A speciallized service collects all of these to proceed to their final process, usually incineration in adequate and remote facilities.
